Results of IMPA Survey on Bridge Alert Management

IMPA recently intervened at IMO on engine control room alert management, creating an opportunity to improve bridge alert management in the future. The IMO Sub-Committee developing a new standard for engine room alert management rejected the current approach to bridge alert management, including MSC.302(87), concluding that a better approach is needed and should guide future improvements. This marks a positive first step. IMPA will contribute to engine control room alert management work to ensure it can be effectively applied on the bridge, benefiting pilots and bridge teams.
