Bong-Suk (Bryan) Kang

Captain Bong-Suk (Bryan) Kang is a licensed maritime pilot at the Port of Busan, Republic of Korea, with more than 20 years of experience in the maritime industry, including approximately 10 years as a shipmaster.

 

In addition to his extensive operational experience at sea, he has a professional background in maritime law. He holds degrees in Navigation and Law, as well as a Master’s degree in Law from Korea Maritime & Ocean University.

 

Captain Kang serves as a member of the International Affairs Committee of the Korea Maritime Pilots’ Association (KMPA) and has been actively engaged in international maritime and pilotage cooperation. His international experience includes participation in IMO NCSR 11 and MSC 110, presentations at the IMPA Rotterdam General Meeting and the Asia-Pacific Maritime Pilots’ Forums in Seoul and Danang, as well as contributions to the IMPA Members’ Working Group Forum.

 

He was elected Vice President of the International Maritime Pilots’ Association (IMPA) at the XXVII General Assembly in Bali, Indonesia, in 2026.

 

As Vice President, Captain Kang is committed to strengthening cooperation between Asia and the global pilot community, promoting safe and effective pilotage, and contributing to the continued development of the maritime pilot profession worldwide.
